5 Teams, 5 Tests
BYU, #12 Weighted/#1 Unweighted
The Cougar offense is looking up at a heavy crop of average to bad teams. It is being carried by a solid defense that really became the recipe for their upset loss last week. My our power rankings, the blemish knocked them down a peg, but they need to return to thier winning ways soon.
- The Star: Cade Uluave leads the team in tackles on a squad of Average Joe’s with something to prove. He could eclipse 100 tackles at this current pace and secure his highest season total in his career.
- The Opponent: Look for the winning ways to return with Arizona State coming to Provo. It will take an effort to slow a capable Sun Devil passing game to quell any type of upset bid.
- The Outlook: The obvious call out is the rivalry match up with Utah in a few weeks, but seeing what happened to Texas Tech and similarly, BYU, a Cincinnati team can turn the heat on late this November.
Miami, #4/#8
The Hurricanes have the critics in an uproar while churning out top level offensive performances and stifling opponents. They’re averaging nearly 50 points a game this late into the season; something that is nothing to debate for any FBS program with an undefeated mark.
- The Star: Malachi Toney is top 3 in receptions, yards, and touchdowns while giving DC’s matchup nightmares. He is well on his way to becoming the next legendary ‘Cane.
- The Opponent: A trip to Chapel Hill is a minor challenge, but the Tar Heels have put up test for decent teams this year.
- The Outlook: Notre Dame poses the biggest threat and reward to this season. If Miami overcomes the road test, they will be a shoe in as favorites to take the crown this season.
