132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous state dinner. “The Residence” is a screwball whodunit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion. Amid all the twists and turns, detective Cordelia Cupp partners with skeptical FBI special agent Edwin Park to untangle an intriguing murder mystery.
This series is Clue on Red Bull and 4 Loko. It stars Uzo Aduba and Giancarlo Esposito in a tale of a murder in the White House during a very disorganized state dinner featuring a number of wild guests, overbearing staffers, and apparently, Hugh Jackman.
This series calls back to a time where we could look to the US executive branch with an unserious eye. Shondaland gives a comedy well merged with a whodunnit led by a very observant dectivive (Aduba). It speeds through the events of a nighttime investigation of a series of suspect over seven episodes. The final episode seems to drag out the Scooby Doo styled reveal by going through all the information that we all learned and seemed to kill the momentum. Rating 8/10
